The website delivers public pages and periodically checks for newly published reporting while a page is open. Normal hosting security and operational logs may contain standard request information such as time, requested page, browser type, and network address.
Likes, dislikes, and story preferences
When you like or dislike a story, Scoop News stores that choice under a random identifier saved in this browser. The site uses your choices to rank more of the topics you like and fewer of the topics you dislike. It does not use them for advertising, sell them, or attach them to a name or email address. Urgent breaking and critical public safety reporting remains prominent regardless of preference signals.
Privacy-conscious audience measurement
Scoop News counts page visits, reading time, broad device type, referring website, on-site searches, archive use, and clicks to attributed source publishers so the newsroom can understand which reporting is useful. It also records an approximate country, region or state, and city. The hosting network supplies this information when available. When it does not, the network address is processed transiently by the no-log Country geolocation service and discarded; Scoop News stores only the broad location result. Precise coordinates, advertising identifiers, and raw network addresses are not stored in the newsroom analytics database. Pseudonymous identifiers are retained for no more than 90 days, automated bots are filtered, and browser Do Not Track is honored.
No advertising profiles
Scoop News does not include an advertising account system. The anonymous story-preference record exists only to tune story ordering on this site.
