Readers should know what is verified—and what is not.
WilluChill News evaluates the origin, reliability, corroboration, timing, and public significance of a claim before it is presented as confirmed. Every public report keeps its source attribution visible.
Important claims must lead to identifiable evidence.
We prefer primary records, official agencies, direct statements, on-scene reporting, and established news organizations with accountable editorial practices. A large number of repeated posts does not turn an unsupported claim into a verified fact.
Primary and official sources
Public agencies, court records, emergency alerts, election authorities, direct public statements, official sports data, and other first-party records receive the greatest evidentiary weight for facts within their authority. Official does not mean infallible, and later corrections are reflected when they occur.
Independent reporting
Credible local, national, and international newsrooms can establish or corroborate facts through direct reporting. We consider proximity to the event, named sourcing, documentary support, editorial accountability, and whether other reliable outlets independently confirm the same core details.
Social and user-generated material
Social posts, scanner traffic, livestreams, photographs, and eyewitness accounts can identify a developing signal, but they are not automatically treated as confirmed. Location, time, authenticity, context, and ownership must be established before the material supports a factual claim.
Confirmed
Core facts are supported by appropriate primary evidence, direct reporting, or credible independent corroboration. Confirmation applies to the stated facts—not to speculation about cause, motive, responsibility, or outcome.
Reported
The information comes from a named source and is clearly attributed, but WilluChill News has not independently confirmed every material detail. Readers can open the source and evaluate the reporting basis directly.
Developing
The event is active, evidence is incomplete, or material facts may change. Developing reports identify what is known, what remains preliminary, and the practical public impact without filling gaps with inference.
What we check before and after publication
- ProvenanceWho published the information and whether the original source can be reached.
- CorroborationWhether independent sources support the same central facts rather than repeating one report.
- Place and timeWhether the city, county, state or country, event time, and media context are internally consistent.
- Claim limitsWhether allegations, estimates, and uncertain casualty figures are clearly qualified.
- ContinuityWhether later reporting materially changes the status, impact, or accuracy of the public story.
Tools assist the newsroom; evidence governs the report
WilluChill News uses software to discover, group, rank, summarize, and monitor stories. Automated output is constrained by source material and must not invent facts, quotes, locations, casualty figures, motives, or certainty. Publication records retain the source and verification information used.
Disagreement stays visible
When reliable sources conflict, we attribute the competing accounts and avoid choosing a definitive version without sufficient evidence. Preliminary numbers are labeled, and updates explain meaningful changes instead of silently replacing the earlier account.
Why some stories appear first
Top Stories weighs public-safety urgency, editorial breaking or featured status, verification, corroboration, freshness, and source diversity. Repetition by one publisher or topic can limit placement. Reader preferences make smaller personal adjustments and cannot suppress urgent breaking coverage. Each ranked report includes a “Why this story” disclosure explaining its main placement signals. Latest News remains chronological.
The public record is preserved
Material factual errors receive a visible correction explaining what changed. Retractions state why the report was withdrawn. Both remain connected to the original story and are listed in the public correction archive.
Use only what the report can support
WilluChill News does not republish complete third-party articles or claim ownership of outside reporting and photographs. Supplied media remains attributed or linked to its source. When no approved image is available, the site displays a story-specific editorial information card—not an invented news photograph.
