1 dead in scooter crash near Colorado Springs

One person died after crashing their scooter Thursday night in the Falcon area of unincorporated El Paso County, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. Shortly after 8 p.m., Colorado State Patrol responded to a single-vehicle wreck northeast of Colorado Springs involving a scooter on Bent Grassmeadows Drive near Meridian Park Drive, which is just north of Woodmen Road and Meridian Road intersection. State Patrol said early reports indicate a scooter rider, a 40-year-old male, was carrying a case of beer and operating a scooter with one hand. He lost control of the scooter, struck the curb and then hit the ground. No other vehicles were involved.
