1 killed after 2 glider planes collide in upstate New York, police say

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon, police said in a statement. One person was killed when two gliders collided in mid-air in upstate New York on Friday afternoon, New York State Police said in a statement. Police were called to respond to a report of a mid-air collision at around 2:26 p.m. on Friday, the statement said. Just over two hours later, police said investigators discovered debris "in a remote area, off of Sand Lake Road in Edinburg" in Saratoga County. "Two glider planes collided in the air. One plane landed safely at the nearby Plateau Sky Ranch Airport, and the pilot was uninjured," the statement said.
