18-year-old from Valley Center killed in Sedgwick shooting, teen booked for murder

SEDGWICK, Kan. (KWCH) - Update: The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a 16-year-old Valley Center boy, arrested in connection with a deadly shooting in Sedgwick, is in the Sedgwick County Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center on the following charges: Criminal discharge of a firearm into an occupied dwelling Two counts of criminal damage to property Carrying a concealed weapon by a person under 21 “Detectives determined the automatic weapon allegation involves a handgun that had been modified to fire automatically,” the sheriff’s office said. Information gathered in the investigation will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office who will determine formal charges. Earlier on Monday, the sheriff’s office identified the 18-year-old killed in the Sedgwick shooting as 18-year-old Hunter Johnson, of Valley Center. Those who live in the area were shocked.
