A 19-year-old man died and multiple people were injured after lightning struck a small structure near the summit of Mount Timpanogos, according to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office. The Utah County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team responded around 6 a.m. Friday after a group of hikers encountered a severe thunderstorm near the summit. The hikers had reached the summit when the storm moved into the area. As it approached, the group took shelter inside a small structure near the summit.
