2 dead after fiery I-81 crash triggers oxygen tank explosion in Frederick County

A chaotic crash with fire, exploding oxygen tanks and a billowing cloud of black smoke left two people dead on Interstate 81 in Frederick County Thursday night. It all started around 8:17 p.m. when a car didn't yield while trying to get on I-81 southbound from the ramp, Virginia State Police said. A semi then slammed into the car before driving straight through the median and hitting a northbound truck that was carrying oxygen tanks. The crash led to a fire and the oxygen tanks exploded .
