Two people were killed when a small plane crashed Thursday morning near the Tampa Executive Airport, authorities said. Hillsborough County Fire Rescue officials received a call about 8:16 a.m. reporting an aircraft was down in a wooded area between the airport and U.S. Firefighters arrived to find a small plane engulfed in flames, Public Safety Information Chief Rob Herrin said in a news conference. The fire was put out within 10 minutes. Afterward, firefighters found two people dead inside the plane, Herrin said.
