2 dead after SUV crashes into embankment in Solano County

Two people died after their vehicle left the road and crashed into an embankment in Solano County Sunday, the California Highway Patrol said. CHP said they received a 911 call just before 12:30 p.m. regarding a vehicle that had traveled off the roadway on eastbound Interstate 80 near the Highway 113 interchange. Watch NBC Bay Area News free wherever you are A preliminary investigation determined that a 2011 black Infiniti FX35 SUV was traveling eastbound on I-80 when it veered off the roadway and crashed into an embankment on the right shoulder, according to authorities. Authorities said the driver, who was a 56-year-old woman from Dixon, died at the scene, and the 65-year-old male passenger died while en route to the hospital. A witness to the crash reported that the driver appeared to be asleep at the wheel just before the SUV left the roadway, CHP said.
