2 injured after small plane crashes in Arden field
Two people were injured after a small, privately owned plane crashed in Arden Saturday morning. A spokesperson for the N.C. State Highway Patrol said troopers were called to a field off Roberts Lake Drive around 10:49 a.m. for a reported plane crash. A Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) spokesperson said the aircraft was a Cirrus SR20 and that the crash occurred near Asheville Regional Airport. Troopers said the aircraft experienced “some type of issue” and deployed an onboard parachute, which helped slow it before the crash.
