WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — A 20-year-old Winter Garden woman was killed Thursday afternoon after a crash involving an electric scooter at an intersection in Winter Garden, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said the crash happened around 2:43 p.m. at Avalon Road and Old YMCA Road in Orange County. According to a preliminary investigation, a 2021 Toyota Camry was traveling southbound on Avalon Road approaching the intersection in the outside lane. A witness told investigators the driver had a green traffic signal. FHP said the woman, who was riding an electric scooter, began traveling eastbound in the crosswalk and entered the path of the Camry.
