RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - An August 2022 shooting of a man by officers with the Reno Police Department has been deemed justified under Nevada law by the Washoe County DA’s Office. Brandon Douglas Allen was shot by police on Aug. The incident began at around 10:00 a.m. that day when physical therapist Patrick Devlin arrived at a residence to provide in home care to the resident. At the same time, a contractor was also present at the home performing work on a fence. While outside, the contractor noticed a heavily tattooed man later identified as Allan in the backyard near the fence line.

The contractor noticed Allan was carrying a large knife and had a handgun in his waistband and witnessed him stabbing or jabbing the knife at the fence. Allan was later charged with resisting a public officer with a dangerous weapon other than a firearm.
