AUSTIN (KXAN) — Three people were arrested and several Austin police officers were injured during separate incidents involving large crowds at a north Austin intersection Sunday, according to the Austin Police Department. The gathering of "hundreds of people," according to APD, came after Wilber Rafael Garces Perez was shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer in Austin, Texas, while he was completing a DoorDash delivery. Perez was taken into federal custody and has reportedly been transported to the South Texas ICE Processing Center in Pearsall, which is roughly two hours southwest of Austin. Police said officers first responded around 5:30 p.m. to a large gathering at the intersection of the southbound Research Boulevard service road and Anderson Square.
