(KRON) -- Four people, including three Bay Area residents, were killed in a small plane crash in Alaska Wednesday, according to Alaska State Troopers. Just before 1:20 p.m., Alaska State Troopers were notified of a small plane that crashed in the Seldovia Slough into the water and was completely submerged. The plane was reportedly headed to Seldovia from Merrill Field Airport. Seldovia is a small coastal town in southern Alaska with no road system connecting it to other communities. State Troopers from Anchor Point and a helicopter from Anchorage responded to the event.

By 6:30 p.m., officials said the tide dropped and State Troopers were able to extract four deceased people from the wreckage.
