3 dead after head-on crash outside Vacaville

Three people died Friday in a head-on crash on a rural highway outside Vacaville, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision happened at about 6:35 a.m. on Highway 113, just north of Hay Road, the CHP said. Watch NBC Bay Area News free wherever you are Citing a preliminary investigation and witness statements, the CHP said the driver of a red GMC pickup truck reportedly was overtaking other vehicles at a high rate of speed when they crossed into oncoming traffic and slammed head-on into a gray Ram pickup truck. The driver and passenger in the GMC pickup truck and the driver of the Ram pickup truck all died at the scene, the CHP said. Highway 113 was closed in both directions following the crash, according to the CHP.
