3 dead after wrong-way crash on highway near Tucson

TUCSON, AZ (AZFamily) — Three people are dead following a head-on crash caused by a wrong-way driver on a southern Arizona highway early Sunday morning. Just after 3 a.m., first responders were called to the crash on State Route 86 west of Tucson, near South Continental Road . It happened just south of the Ryan Airfield. When troopers arrived, they found that a man had been driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of SR 86 when his vehicle collided head-on with another car. The man driving the second vehicle and his woman passenger died at the scene, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
