3 teens arrested at high school, charged as adults in Colleton County shooting
COTTAGEVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) — Deputies have made three arrests after a man was shot multiple times Sunday night. Giauta Dereon Cochran, 17, of Walterboro; Javari Treshawn McMillan, 17, of Walterboro; and Xavier Tylee Smart, 17, of Yemassee, are all charged with armed robbery, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. All three are being charged as adults. Deputies with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office said they responded around 9:20 p.m. Sunday to a home on the 400 block of Rhode Drive in Cottageville for reports of a man being shot.

Witnesses reportedly said that the three teens met with the victim at his home after arranging to buy a weapon from him. Detectives identified Cochran, McMillan and Smart as the suspects and, Tuesday morning, the three were arrested without incident at Colleton County High School when they showed up for class.
