6 firefighters injured battling Brooklyn restaurant fire, FDNY says

Crews battled a fire at a Brooklyn restaurant Saturday.The FDNY says they received a call just before 5:30 p.m. reporting a fire at a building located on North Fifth Street between Bedford Avenue and Berry Street."I saw a big cloud of fire basically burst out of . the restaurant Juliette," one witness said.According to fire officials, three restaurants occupy the building, and the fire extended through the space between the ceiling and the roof from one restaurant into the two adjoining restaurants.At the time of the fire, the impacted restaurants were evacuated.FDNY officials say there was a smoke explosion at one point, along with a localized collapse on the roof. No other injuries were reported.The cause of the fire remains under investigation.Department of Buildings officials were on the scene to assess structural damage.
