65-year-old man shot after trying to enter home in southeast Wichita

A 65-year-old man was shot and hospitalized late Tuesday night after he tried to enter a home in southeast Wichita that wasn’t his. Wichita police were called to a home in the 800 block of S. Rutan at about 11 p.m. where they found a man bleeding from a bullet wound in his abdomen in the driveway. Police said that the 65-year-old man was banging on the door and attempted to enter the home after being told he was at the wrong address. The 55-year-old homeowner got a firearm and confronted the 65-year-old in the driveway, where he shot him in the abdomen.
