A hurricane could form near Southern California this week, seriously

KTLA weatherman Kaj Goldberg said that meteorologists are keeping a close eye on the tropical disturbance developing in the Pacific. The eye of the storm has a strong chance of forming off the coast of Baja California by Thursday, weather prediction models show. “This is the disturbance that, if it does form and come together, could make its way right into Southern California about one week from today,” Goldberg said. National Weather Service Meteorologist Bryan Lewis told KTLA 5 News that the National Hurricane Center predicts an 80% chance of a tropical depression with wind speeds below 38 mph forming in the area within the next 48 hours, and a 90% chance in the next seven days. Lewis said that the difference between a tropical storm and a hurricane is wind speed.
