A Potter County jury sentenced an Amarillo man to life in prison for shooting and paralyzing a man during a 2023 robbery. Johnny Michie Jr. was convicted of aggravated robbery. The jury also imposed a $10,000 fine. The shooting happened around 9 p.m. April 5, 2023, at the Grand Garden Apartments at 2500 South Spring Street .

According to the 47th District Attorneyโs Office, the victim was unresponsive when officers arrived. A doctor testified at trial that the man would have died if medical treatment had been delayed by even a few minutes.
