Amber Alert canceled; grandmother in custody after 6-year-old goes missing
A woman is in custody after allegedly taking her grandson from school on Friday and triggering an Amber Alert callout in Albuquerque. According to a criminal complaint, Marie Esquibel arrived at Cochiti Elementary School at the end of the school day on Friday and took her 6-year-old grandson, Amadeo Esquibel. Marie Esquibel then left school grounds with an unidentified male. Court records say the child's father, Anthony Balderrama, soon arrived at the school and learned that his son was released to the grandmother. He notified police and an Amber Alert was issued.
