Armed robbery at Buckhead complex ends in man being shot, killed

ATLANTA — Three men are facing charges of murder and armed robbery following a fatal shooting in Buckhead that led to a police chase and arrests in Cobb County. Jonquail Myers, 29, died after being shot early Friday morning in the parking garage of the Mezzo Apartment Homes on Peachtree Road. Police later arrested Brian Wingo, Charles Lewis and Ky-Mani Goodings and charged them with Myers’ death. Officers responded to the complex around 1:40 a.m. on Friday, finding Myers suffering from gunshot wounds inside the parking garage, where he died at the scene. Investigators used the surveillance video to identify a suspect vehicle and issued a lookout notice for a Chevrolet Impala.

Christapher Butler with Atlanta police said Myers, a resident of the apartment complex, was targeted in a robbery-related incident. “This appears to be an isolated incident that was robbery-related,” Butler said. “That’s what we’re believing now, based on the facts.” Management at Mezzo Apartment Homes provided surveillance footage that proved crucial to the investigation. “Their video surveillance worked in the key spots and because of them, you know, everything came together very quickly for us,” Butler said.
