Armed woman shot and killed by police, man accused of supplying gun charged with murder
NEPHI — The man who allegedly supplied a gun to a woman that she used in a fatal shootout with police has been charged with murder in connection with her death.Wayne David Lewis, 74, of Erda, was charged Monday afternoon in 4th District Court with murder, a first-degree felony; and assault on a police officer, a second-degree felony.The series of events began Sunday morning when a Nephi police officer and a Juab County sheriff's deputy responded to a report of a domestic violence incident involving a weapon."The reporting party reported that their ex-wife showed up at his house and was acting erratic. The reporting party disclosed that she had a pistol. The reporting party confirmed she had left in a vehicle but that she lived close by," a police booking affidavit states.Meanwhile, police say the woman, identified in the affidavit as Crysti Vincent, also called emergency dispatchers, "making erratic statements and told dispatch that she had a pistol,'" according to the affidavit. The officer tells Wayne not to get the gun.
