Authorities have begun community-level preparedness measures for a Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF). The development comes amid growing concern over climate-related hazards across the Himalayas following the major glacier disaster in Nepal and Tibet in late August. However the identification of the seven lakes, in Tawang is part of the states disaster-risk assessment and preparedness work and should not be described as a direct result of the Nepal disaster.
