Autopsy for Charlotte man whose remains were found in a Lexington scrapyard reveals he was shot, beaten to death

To stream WFMY News 2 on your phone, you need the WFMY News 2 app. Example video title will go here for this video LEXINGTON, N.C. — A newly released autopsy report is revealing more information about the man whose remains were found in a Lexington scrapyard in 2025. 44-year-old Lee Anthony Funderburk's remains were found in a rug inside a salvaged car last year after he was reported missing in 2016. According to an investigation report obtained by WFMY News 2 from the medical examiner's office, Funderburk's skeleton was found by the staff at Leonard Salvage as they were clearing out a car meant to go to a shredder in Virginia. His remains were found wrapped in plastic as staff were moving a piece of carpet they'd gotten from the car.
