‘Barrage’ of gunfire at north Charlotte home leaves woman injured, neighbors shaken

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A 49-year-old woman is recovering from a gunshot wound after a home was hit by a barrage of bullets late Wednesday night. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said seven people were inside the home on Grass Ridge Drive, including an 11-year-old boy who was not injured. The shooting happened around 11 p.m. No suspects were in custody at the time of this writing, and the investigation remained active. ‘It makes me scared’: Neighbors react Neighbors said they heard the gun fire and took cover immediately. “I was sitting in the living room so I heard the gun shots. I went down because I didn’t know if the bullets could come in the house,” said Bakry Diabate, who lives across the street. “I think they shot and then I think they loaded again.” Kevin Denecheau, who also heard the rounds, said he wants to see more officers patrolling the area. “The neighborhood is pretty chill usually.
