Beverly Hills man charged with murder in alley stabbing; witness describes ‘savage’ scene

A 19-year-old Beverly Hills resident was charged with murder following a bloody confrontation in an alleyway Sunday night that left a man dead and neighbors in the well-to-do city trying to make sense of the killing. Conoray Lawantara, arrested by the Beverly Hills Police Department on Monday, was charged Wednesday with one count of murder, according to the L.A. County district attorney's office. The incident unfolded shortly before midnight Sunday when Beverly Hills police responded to reports of an altercation in the alleyway in the 400 block of North Palm Drive, a residential area east of the city's Golden Triangle business and shopping district. There, officers found a man bleeding from neck wounds, police said.
