The Big Ten issued a statement Sunday explaining the controversial ending to the No. 16 Michigan Wolverines ’ 13-12 victory over the Western Michigan Broncos , saying replay officials determined the Broncos’ No. 18 was out of bounds when he made contact with the ball with one second remaining. The ruling set up one of the most dramatic finishes in recent memory at Michigan Stadium. Hail Mary caps wild finish at the Big House Bryce Underwood connected with JJ Buchanan on a 47-yard touchdown pass as time expired, sending the Michigan crowd into a frenzy and giving the Wolverines a 13-12 victory over Western Michigan under the lights at Michigan Stadium.
