Boston city councilor: Officers tied to WMass inmate’s death should be put on leave
In 1848, Benjamin Roberts filed a lawsuit after his daughter wasn’t allowed to attend any of the white schools near her Boston home. “Here we are 177 years later, still fighting this battle,” said Claire Galloway-Jones, an education consultant who is Roberts’ great-great-great granddaughter. “We must be transparent that educational equity is still not the experience of all students in the Commonwealth,” she said. This is the unfinished business of education equality, and a new class action lawsuit , which has a Springfield student as the lead plaintiff, puts it back on the public agenda.
