Boston man charged after accidentally shooting himself at Waltham home, police say

An East Boston man was charged after accidentally shooting himself during an argument at a Waltham home earlier this month, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office. William Robert Swearengin, 50, pleaded not guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of an untraceable firearm during a felony, trafficking methamphetamine and five other illegal gun charges during his arraignment in Waltham District Court, according to court records. 16, Waltham police were called to Main Street for a report of a person shot, prosecutors said. The subsequent investigation revealed that Swearengin had gone to a home on Rich Street while carrying a ghost gun and accidentally shot himself during an argument at the home. First responders took Swearengin to a local hospital for treatment, prosecutors said.
