California man sought with 14-year-old daughter fathered her dead newborn, sheriff says

The man sought with a 14-year-old girl in the death of her newborn is the teenager’s father — and also the biological father of her baby, Monterey County authorities said. Sheriff Tina Nieto said investigators determined that Sergio Galvez Perez, 38, fathered the newborn with his daughter, who was 13 when she became pregnant. On Monday, authorities said the teenager was wanted on suspicion of murder and Perez was accused of concealing her from investigators. Perez is wanted on suspicion of incest, lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14, lewd acts with a minor, unlawful sexual intercourse, child concealment and child endangerment. Nieto described the teenager Monday as both a suspect in her newborn’s death and a victim of sexual abuse by her father.
