Central City crash forces ‘mass casualty’ declaration after over dozen injured

CENTRAL CITY, Ky (WEHT) - A big crash involving more than ten victims over the weekend on the Western Kentucky Parkway forced the Central City Fire Department to declare a "mass casualty incident". According to officials, 14 people, including 12 juveniles, were taken to area hospitals with various injuries from the crash. By declaring a "mass casualty incident", this allowed requests made to Ohio County plus Ohio County EMS to respond for assistance. Both east and westbound lanes were shut down for a period of time while crews worked the scene and prepared patients for transport.
