Cincinnatus, N.Y. — Depending on the route a driver takes to Cincinnatus, a small town amidst the rolling hills and farmland of Cortland County, they’re confronted with a group of signs. “Welcome to Cincinnatus: the home of the corn festival,” one reads. On a handful of other entrances into town, additional signs guide drivers to another of Cincinnatus’ hallmarks. Until Monday, the signs read: “Welcome to Cincinnatus - Home of the NYS Champions - Girls Varsity Soccer 2023.” The new signs reflect the Lions’ state championship from last fall, their second in three years, and on the back of a 7-0 start to 2026, they’re on the hunt to update the signs again with a third.
