All 21 seats will be up for election for the first time and voters, whether they have students in CPS or not, can cast a ballot for a school board president and a representative from their district. The school board oversees Chicago Public Schools, which is responsible for the education of approximately 305,000 children attending more than 600 schools. There are 46 candidates running for 21 seats. Some will get two-year terms, others will get four-year terms. Early voting for the Nov. 3 general election begins Oct. 1 at the Downtown Voting Supersite at 137 S. State St. and the Chicago Board of Elections Offices at 69 W. Washington St., 6th Floor. Additional early voting sites in all 50 wards open Oct. 19. On Election Day, polls are open 6 a.m.-7 p.m. Find your assigned precinct polling place here .
