Chicago shooting: Home video captures Bronzeville mother shot multiple times in front of daughter before school

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A woman who was shot multiple times outside her Bronzeville home said she feared she would not survive the attack after a gunman opened fire as she prepared to take her daughter to school. The woman, Erin, was about to leave her home when security video captured what she described as a violent ambush. She is recovering in a hospital bed after being shot nearly a dozen times in front of her daughter, said the experience left her fearing for her life. "I thought this was my last time seeing my daughter; that she was not going to have her mom in her life at all," Erin said. The shooting unfolded just before 8 a.m. as she was outside her home near Lake Park Avenue and 40th Place in the Bronzeville neighborhood. Home security video shows a black car pulling up before a person exits the vehicle and opens fire. "As I'm trying to get out of the car, I fall to the car on the ground, and I see him shooting at the window of my apartment balcony," Erin said.
