Community members rally after fatal APD shooting of 17-year-old
Posted: Jul 28, 2026 / 06:23 PM CDT Updated: Jul 28, 2026 / 06:24 PM CDT AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) – Family members, friends and community advocates gathered in downtown Austin Tuesday afternoon, calling for greater transparency and accountability following the fatal officer-involved shooting of 17-year-old Anthoneil Williams II. The rally, held at Wooldridge Square, came four days after Williams was shot and killed by Austin police during an encounter on Friday. According to the Austin Police Department, three officers opened fire after Williams reached toward his waistband during the encounter. Investigators later determined Williams had called 911 himself before the incident.
