Connecticut sixth grader, 11, killed in bicycle crash with school bus, police say

NORTH STONINGTON — A sixth grade student at North Stonington Elementary School was killed Wednesday morning when they crashed into a school bus while riding a bicycle on Old Colony Road, district officials said. North Stonington Public Schools identified the student as Torren O'Grady, 11. Officials said all students were released early, and that counselors and emotional support dogs have been made available. “Grief looks different for everyone, but what is steadfast is our commitment to our students and our community during this time,” district officials said. “Our hearts are with the O'Grady family.” District officials said the crash occurred before the start of school and within a mile from campus. They said the school system is working with Connecticut State Police in the ongoing investigation. “Our school is committed to transparent, timely, and safe communication with our students, parents, caregivers, and extended community,” district officials said.
