Coroner identifies man who died after being shot during gunfire exchange with deputies

AMMON — The coroner’s office has identified the man who died during a gunfire exchange with deputies on Friday. Bonneville County Coroner Shante Sanchez says the person is 43-year-old Marcus Griffin of Idaho Falls. According to a news release from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a home on Badger Creek Road around 6 a.m., after Griffin reportedly told dispatchers he was armed and going to kill himself.
