Couple found shot dead in Northern Virginia home

Fairfax County police are investigating after a husband and wife were found dead inside their Centreville home Wednesday evening in what police are calling a domestic-related shooting.Officers were dispatched to the 6300 block of Sharps Drive shortly after 5:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting.When officers arrived, they found a man and woman, both in their 30s, suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.Police said the couple’s young children were inside the home when the shooting happened. Investigators said the children contacted a family member who lives nearby, and that family member then called 911.The children were not injured and are now staying with extended family, according to police.Investigators recovered a firearm inside the home. Police said they do not believe anyone else was involved in the shooting. The circumstances surrounding the deaths remain under investigation.
