PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - When Portland police arrived to secure an eastside medical clinic parking lot where federal agents had just shot two people in January , a local patrol officer caught something on his body camera that wasn’t supposed to happen: a U.S. Border Patrol agent picking up a live bullet from the ground. The confrontation, detailed in newly unsealed federal court records, shows the Portland officer stepped in and stopped the federal agent from walking away with physical evidence from the active crime scene. “PPB bodycam footage shows a PPB officer preventing a border patrol agent from interfering with the full preservation of physical evidence; the border patrol agent was attempting to remove an unfired rifle round from the scene,” Assistant Federal Public Defenders Michael Benson and Peyton Lee wrote in a sentencing memo filed Friday in U.S. District Court in Portland.
