Dad arrested on capital murder charge after toddler found dead in car: police

MIDLAND, Texas (WKRC) - A man was hit with capital murder charges after his young daughter was found unresponsive in a locked vehicle, police said. According to KWES-TV, 25-year-old Lorenzo Rodriguez was taken into custody after his two-year-old daughter was found unresponsive in a car and later pronounced dead at a hospital. Law enforcement responded to a home in Midland, Texas, after receiving a report of an unresponsive child locked inside a vehicle, KOSA reported. Upon arrival at the scene, officers met with Rodriguez and several other family members, who reportedly provided the officers with an initial account of what occurred, per KWES. When speaking with police, the family members said they had visited the home to check on Rodriguez and his daughter after the suspect had reportedly been drinking alcohol the night before the discovery, the reports state.
