D.C. police arrested and charged a man Wednesday in the death of his infant stepdaughter last month. Demetrius Beatty, 40, was charged with first-degree felony murder and first-degree cruelty to children nearly a month after 2-month-old Khamyah Honesty’s death was ruled a homicide. The charges stem from an incident on Aug. At around 9:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of an unconscious infant at an apartment in the 800 block of New Jersey Avenue in Southeast. There, police said officers found Beatty holding the infant.
