Des Plaines shooting: 6 officers on paid administrative leave after Ayham Babidi shot, killed by cop

Ayham Babidi's father said son was unarmed DES PLAINES, Ill. (WLS) -- Six Des Plaines police officers are on paid administrative leave after an officer shot and killed Ayham Babidi, police said. The shooting happened on Sept. 9 at about 2:30 p.m. in the 2000-block of East Touhy Avenue, police said, Ayham Babidi, 21, was shot and killed by police and was "armed with an electric hedge trimmer." Police also said Babidi was acting violently and breaking windows at a home. Des Plaines PD said Badibi allegedly threatened the officer with the hedge trimmer. The officer told Babidi to drop it, but he refused, police said.
