Dispute over bar seat leads to stabbing, police pursuit in Delaware
A Delaware man is facing several charges after police said he stabbed another man over a dispute about a seat at a bar, then led officers on a pursuit. According to Delaware State Police, on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, around 9 p.m., troopers responded to the Crab Barn, located at 32600 Long Neck Road, after receiving a report of a stabbing. When troopers go to the scene, police said they that a 44-year-old man had been stabbed by another man, identified as 67-year-old Douglas Clay, of Millsboro, following a disagreement over a seat at the bar.

After being released from the hospital, police said Clay was taken in an charged with first degree assault and other related offenses. Curing the pursuit, police sad Clay drove recklessly and at a high rate of speed on several area roads and ultimately came to a stop in Milton where he was taken into custody.
