Dozens of sick children prompts temporary closure of elementary school in Prince George's County
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- Princeton Elementary School in Prince George's County will be closed for the rest of the week due to a sickness outbreak among dozens of students and staff. According to a release sent out Wednesday night, "rising respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses" have struck 48 students and 16 staff so far, with most reporting influenza-like and gastroenteritis-like symptoms. "The temporary closure allows for the necessary infectious period to pass and enables facility crews to conduct a comprehensive deep cleaning and sanitization of the school building," said Associate Superintendent Denise Douglas.
