Driver dies after going over railing following Beltway crash in Montgomery Co.

An 18-year-old man died after fleeing the scene of a crash in Montgomery County, Maryland, on Sunday night and going over a railing, according to Maryland State Police. Police said the man was driving a blue Ford Fusion on the Outer Loop of Interstate 495 near Georgia Avenue around 7 p.m. when, for that remain under investigation, he struck “an unattended blue Chevrolet pickup truck” being towed by a white tow truck. According to police, witnesses said the driver got out of the vehicle and ran along the shoulder of I-495 toward Connecticut Avenue, wearing gray pants and no shirt. Police said the man went over a railing onto Stoney Brook Drive, falling about 50 feet. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
