Driver killed when speeding Porsche goes airborne, slams into utility pole along South Loop, HPD says

The crash happened around 1 a.m. and the freeway has since reopened. The Houston Police Department said the driver of the Porsche exited the main lanes of the freeway near Kirby and continued down the feeder road at a high rate of speed before hitting a curb and going airborne, slamming into the utility pole. The vehicle ended up wrapped around the pole. "He smashed into a pole directly behind us, and unfortunately succumbed to those injuries on scene," said HPD Sgt.
