The Casper Police Department responded to the area of the 700 block of North McKinley Street just after 12 a.m. for a report of a shooting, according to a brief statement the agency released about the incident. “Upon arrival, officers located an adult male in the street with an apparent gunshot wound,” the statement says. “The male was quickly transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.” The area referenced is mostly industrial at the Interstate 25 overpass that spans North McKinley Street. “The apparent shooter is in custody and is cooperating with police,” the CPD reports. “At this time, we believe this to be an isolated incident between two individuals known to each other. “There is no threat to the public.” The statement doesn’t identify the suspect or victim and says the investigation remains active with personnel “on scene for an extended period of time” and that “the area of North McKinley between F and H streets is currently closed.” Police also are looking for potential witnesses to the shooting or anyone who has any information about it, asking them to call 307-235-8278.
