EF-0 tornado with 85 mph winds confirmed in Pickens County during Tuesday storms

PICKENS COUNTY, Ga. — The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-0 tornado touched down in Pickens County during Tuesday's severe storms, with preliminary estimates placing peak wind speeds between 80 and 85 mph. According to the agency's initial storm survey, the tornado caused relatively little damage to homes and other structures because it remained mostly off the ground as it moved through the area. Instead, the strongest impacts were seen in wooded areas, where numerous trees were snapped or uprooted. Fallen trees blocked several roads throughout the county, creating hazardous travel conditions and prompting cleanup efforts. Survey crews determined the tornado's path began near East Price Creek Road before tracking southeast.
